Bigg Boss 18 contestant Chum Darang has finally addressed the racist remarks made by YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner Elvish Yadav. She strongly condemned his disrespectful comments and called for a stand against racism.
In an Instagram post, Chum Darang expressed her anger over the ‘racist’ remarks made by Elvish Yadav during his podcast with Rajat Dalal. Elvish mocked her identity, name, and role in the film Gangubai Kathiawadi, disrespecting not only her but also the film backed by renowned filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Chum emphasized the importance of respecting people’s identities and achievements, stating that mocking someone’s hard work should not be considered “banter.” She also urged her fellow Northeasterners and everyone who has faced racism to raise their voices and promote empathy, kindness, and equality.
The controversy began when a promo clip from Elvish Yadav’s podcast went viral, in which he made derogatory comments about Chum’s name and her performance in Gangubai Kathiawadi. He questioned her name, calling it vulgar, and mocked her for being part of a film like Gangubai Kathiawadi.
Chum Darang’s response highlights the urgent need to combat racism and create an inclusive culture that fosters respect for all individuals, regardless of their background.
“Disrespecting someone’s identity & name is not ‘fun.’ Mocking someone’s achievements is not ‘banter.’ It’s time we draw the line between humor and hate… I stand with all who have faced racism. #NoRoomForRacism #NotOkaywithRacism.”
Her message calls for solidarity in the fight against racism, pushing for a culture rooted in respect and understanding for everyone.
