
The Delhi-NCR region has been experiencing intense heatwave conditions for the last few days. While the temperature goes up during the day, there is no respite from the scorching heat during the night. Friday was also the hottest day of the season with the maximum temperature touching 41.7 C, four notches above average.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 21.6 C. Even today, a yellow alert has been issued for heatwave in Delhi-NCR, and according to the Meteorological Department, there is no possibility of getting relief from the heat till May 1. People have been advised to not to leave their houses unless necessary.
The Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert in Delhi for Saturday, April 26. Day’s maximum temperature would hover at 43 ° c, while minimum temperature is predicted to be 24 ° c. Delhi will have a clear sky, but dusty winds are likely in the afternoon, with speed ranging between 20 and 30 kilometres per hour.
How long will the hot weather last?
There is a possibility of cloudy weather in Delhi on April 27 and 28, which may bring a slight decrease in temperature. However, Delhiites should not expect much relief during this period. From April 29 to May 1, Delhi is likely to experience strong and hot winds during the day time.
The temperature is 4 degrees above average
In the last 24 hours, the maximum temperature of Delhi was recorded at 41.7 degrees Celsius, which is 4 degrees above average. The minimum temperature was recorded at 21.6 degrees Celsius, a notch below the average. The humidity level in Delhi was recorded at 24 per cent.
AQI deteriorates with rise in temperature
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the city’s air quality remained in the ‘poor’ category on Monday, with the AQI level recorded at 258. Earlier, on April 24, Delhi’s AQI was 227 at 4 pm. An AQI between 0 and 50 is considered “good,” 51 and 100 “satisfactory,” 101 and 200 “moderate,” 201 and 300 “poor,” 301 and 400 “very poor” and 401 and 500 “severe.”
