Nithya Menen Share Candid Reflection on Inhumanity in the Film Industry

National award-winning actress Nithya Menen has always been known for her candid nature and her willingness to discuss the harsh realities of the film industry. As she gears up for the release of her upcoming film ‘Kadhalikka Neramillai’, Nithya took a moment to reflect on her personal experiences, highlighting the unsettling work culture often found in filmmaking.

In a recent interview with Cinema Vikatan, Nithya shared a shocking yet heartwarming encounter with director Mysskin during the shoot for the 2020 psychological thriller ‘Psycho.’ Arriving late due to severe menstrual cramps, she was apprehensive about how this would be perceived. To her surprise, Mysskin demonstrated an exceptional level of understanding and empathy.

Nithya recounted that Mysskin’s reaction made her feel genuinely cared for. He advised her to rest and reassured her that it was okay to take a step back. This compassion starkly contrasts with the prevalent culture within the industry, where actors often feel pressured to perform no matter their condition. Nithya stated, ‘There is a slight level of inhumanity in films.’ However, Mysskin’s support reinforces the idea that empathy can coexist within the demanding film environment. As Nithya prepares for her starring role alongside Dhanush in ‘Idli Kadai’, she hopes to see more compassionate leadership in the industry.
