Talk about making a statement! Protesters interrupted the London Marathon today in a dramatic way—by throwing red powder paint on Tower Bridge right in front of the men’s elite race. The stunt was a bold move by Youth Demand, a group pushing for a trade embargo on Israel.
At around 10:35 AM, two activists, Willow Holland, 18, and Cristy North, jumped over the barriers, doused the iconic bridge in red, and stopped traffic—literally. Their shirts said it all: “Stop Arming Israel.”
Police quickly moved in and arrested the duo, but not before their message was heard loud and clear. Holland said, “I refuse to be complicit in a genocide funded by our politicians.” North added, “The people in Palestine are running out of time.”
The protest didn’t seem to affect the race itself, with runners still streaming across Tower Bridge moments later. But make no mistake—this was a bold, unforgettable move to draw attention to the group’s cause.
