Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan faced a frightening burglary attempt at his residence in Mumbai.
Akshay Kumar recently praised Saif Ali Khan for his bravery after a shocking burglary attempt at Saif’s Mumbai residence. Speaking at a press event for his upcoming film Sky Force in Delhi, Akshay expressed his relief that Saif was safe and commended his courageous actions in protecting his family. He said, “It’s very nice that he is safe. We are all happy, and the entire industry is relieved that he’s fine. It was incredibly brave of him to protect his family, and hats off to him.”
Akshay also fondly recalled working with Saif in the film Main Khiladi Tu Anari and joked, “Next time we work together, we should name our film Tu Khiladi.”
The incident occurred when an intruder, later identified as Mohd Shariful Islam Shehzad, attempted to rob Saif’s home. Saif was injured during an altercation with the intruder, who had confronted the housemaid. Saif sustained stab wounds to his thoracic spine as he tried to intervene. The attacker was caught while attempting to flee to his village in Bangladesh. Saif underwent surgery, which involved removing a 2.5-inch-long blade.
In the aftermath, Saif’s wife, Kareena Kapoor, took to Instagram to request privacy for the family during this difficult time. She urged the media to respect their boundaries and refrain from speculation, expressing how overwhelming the attention had become. “We appreciate the concern and support, but the constant scrutiny poses a risk to our safety. Please allow us the space we need to heal,” she wrote.
The incident also drew attention to the actions of an auto-rickshaw driver who helped Saif get to the hospital. The driver shared his experience, saying that around 2 a.m., he saw a woman trying to hire a rickshaw. When he approached the scene, he saw Saif covered in blood. The actor was assisted into the rickshaw, and the driver took them to Lilavati Hospital. Later, the driver learned that the injured man was Saif Ali Khan.
The news shocked not only the Khan family but the entire film industry. In a trailer launch event for Deva, Shahid Kapoor expressed his concern for Saif, calling it a very sad and shocking incident. “This is hard to absorb, especially in Mumbai, a city we consider very safe. We hope Saif recovers soon,” he said. Many other celebrities, including Sanjay Dutt, Genelia Deshmukh, and Riteish Deshmukh, visited Saif at the hospital to offer their support.
