Following the immense success of KGF and KGF 2, Yash has joined forces with National Award-winning director Geethu Mohandas for an ambitious new project titled Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups. This highly anticipated gangster drama is being shot simultaneously in English and Kannada, marking a significant leap in Indian cinema with the intent to reach both Indian and global audiences. The film features a star-studded cast, including Yash, Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, and Tara Sutaria, among others.
In an effort to make Toxic a Pan World film, the filmmakers have chosen to write and shoot the film in two languages, with plans to dub it into other Indian and international languages for a broader global appeal. According to sources, the filmmakers aim to deliver a story with universal themes that will resonate across cultures. This ambitious approach, however, comes with a significant increase in production costs — up by 40% due to the bilingual shoot.
The project is backed by KVN Productions and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, and it is touted to be one of the most expensive films in Indian cinema history. Despite the higher costs, the filmmakers are determined to create a product that showcases India on the global stage, with the goal of making Toxic one of the first Indian films to truly break through internationally.
Director Geethu Mohandas, known for her success at the Sundance Film Festival, is already a respected figure in international cinema, bringing a level of credibility to the project. In addition to the talented Indian cast, Toxic has enlisted international professionals, including action director JJ Perry, known for his work on blockbuster franchises like Iron Man, Fast and Furious, and John Wick. Perry has already designed and shot some of the film’s high-octane action sequences.
The film’s global ambitions are further evident with the involvement of international talent and technicians, many of whom have been kept under wraps. Toxic is set to be one of the first Indian films to be shot in two major languages simultaneously, signaling a bold move to position Indian cinema on the world map.
With the production team planning to partner with a global studio for the international release, Toxic is primed to create a major impact in the coming months, and fans are eagerly awaiting its grand release later this year. The film promises to be an epic cinematic experience, blending Indian storytelling with global sensibilities.
