Well, this isn’t your usual courthouse drama… Judge Hannah Dugan just went from presiding over cases to being the case. The Milwaukee County Circuit Court judge was straight-up arrested by the FBI — yep, that FBI — and the charges are anything but boring.
According to federal agents, Judge Dugan allegedly helped an undocumented immigrant dodge ICE. We’re talkin’ cloak-and-dagger courthouse maneuvers that sound like something outta a Netflix legal thriller. Feds say she told agents to take a seat while she hit pause on the courtroom drama… and then allegedly let the guy slip out the back door. Literally.
The man in question? Eduardo Flores-Ruiz — an undocumented immigrant facing deportation. After the alleged “exit stage left” moment, Flores-Ruiz took off, sparking a short-lived foot chase before being snagged again.
Dugan was arrested inside the Milwaukee County Courthouse (talk about awkward), booked on two felony charges — obstruction and concealing an individual to prevent arrest — and later released on her own recognizance. Her lawyer’s calling the whole thing a “political stunt.”
Meanwhile, the FBI isn’t exactly whispering. Director Kash Patel posted the arrest news online with major chest-thumping vibes before quickly deleting it… and then reposting it like a proud gym selfie. Bold move, Kash.
The whole situation’s sparking some Capitol Hill heat too — Senators Tammy Baldwin, Elizabeth Warren, and Bernie Sanders are calling the arrest “dangerous and outrageous.” Milwaukee officials are also side-eyeing the feds hard, worried this could throw a giant wrench into the whole “independent judiciary” thing.
Judge Dugan’s been on the bench since 2016, and now she’s got a court date of her own coming up May 15. Plot twist: she probably won’t be the one holding the gavel.
