NFL power agent Jeff Sperbeck — the longtime right-hand man to John Elway — has tragically died after a freak golf cart accident… and yeah, it’s as shocking as it sounds.
The whole thing went down on April 26 at the ultra-swanky Madison Club in La Quinta, CA — a private celeb-studded golf community where Stagecoach weekend was still buzzing. According to People and The Sun, Sperbeck was riding on the back of a moving golf cart when he fell off… and hit his head hard.
He was rushed to Desert Regional in Palm Springs with a traumatic brain injury and placed on life support. Four days later, on April 30, his family confirmed he had passed away at just 62 years old.
And here’s where it gets even more surreal — John Elway was reportedly driving the cart. Yup. The Hall of Famer and Sperbeck were tight for decades. Elway even called 911 after the accident, according to the New York Post.
There’s no sign of foul play, and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
Sperbeck was no small-timer. Dude repped over 100 NFL players and coaches over 30+ years. He helped guide Elway’s off-field empire and co-founded 7Cellars wine with him. He also worked with legends like Ronnie Lott and Jim Plunkett. Big-time mover.
Tributes are already pouring in from the sports world, with friends calling him a “trusted friend” and “business genius.” Just a brutal loss for the league and anyone who knew him.
A quiet night at a golf club turned tragic — and the NFL just lost one of its biggest behind-the-scenes players.
