Talk about a nightmare on the streets of Chatham—this is beyond shocking. Four lives were tragically cut short when a vehicle slammed into the YNOT after-school program building. This horrifying accident took place at around 3:20 p.m. on Monday afternoon at 301 Breckenridge Road. The details are gut-wrenching.
According to reports, the vehicle first struck multiple people outside before driving straight through the building, ripping through it like something out of an action movie. While the driver wasn’t injured, the scene left the community in complete disbelief. Sources revealed that the victims—aged between 4 and 18—were outside or inside the building when the car barreled through.
As first reported by local authorities, emergency responders rushed to the scene. Several others were taken to nearby hospitals, including one airlifted for critical care. A reunification center for families has been set up at Chatham Baptist Church to help those affected.
Governor JB Pritzker has shared his heartfelt condolences, and the community is absolutely reeling from this senseless loss. Authorities are still piecing together how something so devastating could happen in such a peaceful town.
