A small plane just crashed into two homes in Simi Valley, California, and it was every bit as terrifying as it sounds. The pilot didn’t make it, but the real miracle? No one inside the homes was hurt.
Around 2:00 p.m. Saturday, this Vans RV-10 went down hard in the Wood Ranch area, setting off a massive fireball that had neighbors running for their lives. The whole neighborhood went up in smoke as firefighters scrambled to put out the flames.
Local resident Arman Hovakemian said, “I saw the plane on fire as it came down. When it hit, the fire was out of control. We thought we were going to lose everything.”
Luckily, no one in the homes was injured, and the situation could’ve been way worse. The FAA and NTSB are already on the scene investigating, but for now, this area is still a hot mess of wreckage and recovery.
Sources say the plane had just taken off from Lancaster’s Fox Field. It was headed to Camarillo, but it never made it.
Just like that, a quiet day in a quiet neighborhood turned into a chaotic scene straight out of a disaster movie.
